Power system in India is being managed by grouping the utilities into four regions namely Northern, Southern, Western and North Eastern. With the rapid growth and vast geographic spread , Operation and Management of Integrated Power System forming regional and National Grids has become complex and challenging task, requiring Co-ordination amongst various Central and State sector Generation and Transmission Utilities. This has necessitated the need to modernize the existing Load dispatch and Communication facilities under ULDC project to deliver the quality power economically, reliably and securely. The ULDC scheme has been implemented in OPTCL during the year 2002 to 2007, having State Load Despatch Centre (SLDC) at Bhubaneswar and four numbers of Sub-LDC located at Budhipadar,Meramandali, Bhubaneswar and JayaNagar. |
Orissa (OPTCL), Bihar (BSEB), Jharkhand (JSEB), West Bengal (WSEB), Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) and Sikkim are the constituents of Eastern region. The activities of the constituents are co-ordinated by Regional electricity Board (EREB) at Kolkata, who formulate policies and guide lines for integrated Power System under the auspices of Central Electricity Authority (CEA).
