OPTCL provides Apprenticeship training to passed out Degree
Engineering students, Diploma Engineering students and ITI
Holders. It is given to the students of various technical
colleges/schools. The duration is one year. The no of students
from various institutes and various disciplines that can be
accommodated by OPTCL are fixed by Board of Practical Training.
The total capacity has been enhanced recently and is as follows:

The selection of Engineering
Graduates for Apprenticeship Training is done by a Selection
Board comprising the technical experts of the organization (OPTCL)
as well as by representatives from Board of Practical Training (BOPT),
Eastern Region, Salt Lake, Kolkata. Candidates are selected on
the basis of performance in the personal Interview conducted by
the board .On the other hand, the Diploma Holders are selected
for training by the Principals of Engineering Schools in
consultation with Directorate of Technical Education and
Training, Cuttack. Candidates are chosen from various Diploma
Schools from throughout Orissa.
Seats allocated against each Engineering School by the
Directorate of Technical Education and Training are as follows:

The period of apprenticeship
training in the case of engineering graduates, diploma holders
and ITI holders is one year.
BOPT issues certificates of proficiency directly to the
apprentices after their successful completion of 12 months
training.
